Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre

One of the world's largest private collections of WW1 aircraft and memorabilia brought to life in a multi-sensory experience designed to captivate and entertain all ages.

We are alongside the historic Omaka airfield; home of the biennial Classic Fighters air show, where original and replica aircraft (both static and flyable) are showcased in spectacular sets designed by New Zealand's masters of cinematic spectacle.

Located just 5kms from central Blenheim, the museum is set amongst Marlborough's acclaimed vineyards and 5 minutes from the airport. Driving route is well-sign-posted on SH6. Open daily 10am-4pm with cafe and limited edition merchandise on site. Family concessions and group packages available.

Driftwood Ecotours

For the serious birder or twitcher, be personally guided around the 2300 hectare Vernon Lagoon where 94 bird species have been identified, all within 20 minutes of Blenheim. Observe migratory waders such as Bartailed godwit, knots, turnstone, stints and even the odd whimbrel or sandpiper. This is also a wonderful area to spot our indigenous waders like the Pied oyster catcher, banded dotterels, pied stilt and our endemic wrybill. Stroll a secluded beach over looking Cloudy Bay where birds such as sooty shearwaters and numerous gulls soar, or just relax and take in the ambience of this amazing landscape.
Season: October – May.
